a day out with mom

Mama needed some fresh air, so we went to the gardens at Thanksgiving pointe. We rented a golf cart and went all around the place! It was HOT, but really beautiful and worth it. We had a great time. I was going a little crazy driving the cart. It was my first time ever driving the cart! So I was the driver and my mom was the navigator. The place is absolutely gorgeous (even in summer) and we enjoyed the time together, just my mom and me. We talked abut everything under the sun and it was a very relaxing day!

We had lunch at the little cafe there, it was delicious!

girls vs boys

Recently I've been havin some issues with being a girl. At times I really love being a girl, and many times I absolutely hate it. I might get graphic, so if you need... you might stop reading here.

Alright. Lately I've been thinking that guys have it SO much easier in life. I'm sure you all know why... but let me list some reasons that I have been dwelling on for the past few weeks.

1. The world is a man's urinal. They can pee anywhere, standing up and not make a complete MESS.
2. Emotions. They just don't have as much complicated emotions that girls have. We are on a ROLLERCOASTER that seems to never end! (At least I am. Other girls may be different) Here is a diagram I made on 'paint' to explain.

I think you get the idea.

3. They don't bleed once a month that lasts for up to 7 days... and for some, more.

4. They don't have to ever be pregnant, or ever worry that they are pregnant, or birth a child if they ARE pregnant.

5. Let's just talk about the difference in prices when they get their hair done compared to ours. A cut is 7.95 and ours is like 30. Granted their hair is generally shorter than ours. BUT, it still stinks. Some guys have their wives/girlfriends/boyfriends do their hair, and that's FREE!!

6. Time to get ready. They can get ready in a much shorter time. No make up, they don't shave their hair on thier bodies, they don't paint thier nails... etc!! (Exception of course, the guys that DO participate in these activities)

7. We cost more. Think about all our clothes, accessories, tampons, pads, perfumes, shoes, make-up and the list goes on and on.

So this list may not seem like a big deal, but it's been bugging me a lot lately!

Fortunately, I know a little what it's like being a guy now, and I love it! With my head shaved, waking up and getting ready is the easiest thing in the world. I absolutely love it! If I had known it would be this nice I would have done it years ago!! :)

look-alike

my co-worker says I look like her: (Susan Powter)

And my husband says I look hotter than her: (but I disagree)

But Trav's opinion is the only one I could really care about. And believe you me, he LOVES it. He thinks I'm so hot no matter what! He says I have a new nickname: Buzz. I think I'll keep it up for a while. I'm already planning my halloween costume; Evie from V for Vendetta. It's gonna be sweet.

we did it together

Yep. We shaved our heads. My mom's is a number 4 and mine is a number 3. Here are some pics. I'll probably go shorter when my mom's falls out.

Go ahead. Try and tell us we're not brave and attractive women. I DARE YOU.

Videos soon to come

it's more selfish, really.

Hey out there. I pose a question for ya'll.

As you know, momma linda has cancer.

She will be shaving her head soon, due to chemo. She doesn't want to wait to see if her hair does or doesn't fall out, because she thinks it'd be too traumatic to see hair falling out in clumps. (I agree). She says that if she just shaves it off in the first place, it's less scary later when/if her hair falls out (which many people's does).

So here's what I wanna know:

Should I shave my head?

Before you say, "But Kat, you've got the most cutest hair in the world, and you always look darling the way you wear your hair, every time I see you! Don't shave it!!!"

.....

Lemme give you the facts:

I've always wanted to shave my head. Always.

My mom hasn't really made a decision about whether she wants me to do it or not. Many people have told me that I should do whatever my mom wants me to do.... and while I repect that answer, I don't really agree.

I think I would look hot with a shaved head. It'd show off my features more. (Ok, vain, I know. I'm REALLY trying to convince you all)

I really want some awesome steps.

I've had super short hair before- practically shaved, anyway.

Both my bosses gave me the go-ahead. They say it's A-Okay. (My one boss says she wants me to wear a wig.... I am trying to convince her that I really won't be THAT distracting). People stare at interpreters anyway, and what is a better conversation starter than, "Excuse me, I saw you signing up there. Why are you bald?"

It's not just that I want to "support" my mom. I read online that many people who shave their heads for their family and friends are doing it to support their loved ones who have cancer. Some of the people that had cancer were touched, while others didn't want that AT ALL. It depends on the individual.

For me, it's about the experience. My mom already knows I'm going to be there for her every step of the way and that I am already supporting her and cheering her on.

I want to know what it feels like to be afraid and scared so I can RELATE to my mom better. (Although I'll probably be enjoying it much more than her).

So truly, my reasons are more selfish than humbly wanting to support my mom. Even though I know I'll get mixed reponses from people, I'm still curious to know what you think.

love

Would you rather LOVE and not be loved back?

or

BE LOVED, but not love the person/people?

This question was asked at lake powell this year. I answered the question promptly by saying that I would much rather LOVE and not be loved back than to have someone/people love me but not love them back.

I get more joy out of loving and showing love than I do by being loved.

What are your thoughts? Which would you rather, and why?
