Today is my sister Lizzie's birthday (Happy Birthday Liz!!!!) and I decided I was going to make her a cake for her birthday. I went to the store and bought all the ingredients. I bought other groceries as well, and because I was in a hurry, I just threw them on the counter and decided I'd put them away after the cake was in the oven. I start blending them together, and looking at the directions. It says I need to grease the pan before putting the batter in it. I go to the cupboard and to my surprise, I have no PAM!!! I don't have Crisco either. I've never even used Crisco since I've been married! Great.
I run over to my in-laws house, and doors are locked. Oh yeah, they are in Mexico for the week! Great. I call my two neighbors. Both not home. I called my visiting teaching companion; answering machine. Here I am running all frantic-like searching for some stupid Pam! Meanwhile my oven is still at 350 degrees, batter waiting to become a delicious cake. I grab my laptop and type in, "how to grease a pan without Crisco or Pam." I click on the first link. Someone had a question about brownies, and I read the entire blurb before even getting to the answer. I got sucked into how she described them so decadently. UGH. I found the answer. OH DUH, you doh doh bird.... BUTTER and flour! HA. So I grab a stick of butter and start slabbing it on there, later sprinkling flour. It was a mess! While I have my hands in this greasy mess, my neighbor calls me back. She said she never keeps pam or crisco in the house, she only uses butter. (The inflection in her voice implied... "Oh silly Kat, you don't know a dang thing about cooking.")
So, remember how I said I went grocery shopping? After putting the cake in the oven, I started putting the items away. I get to THE LAST BAG, and when I pull it away, AHHHHHHH there is the pam, behind the bag!! I'm so stupid, I used the pam only 2 nights ago, and I didn't put it away!!!!! Wow. All that searching for nothing! At least I know I can use butter and flour instead. All in all, it was a whole lot of scurrying, when it was right next to me the entire time. Don't you love when that happens?! :)

i feel out of breath from reading this :) i get way to emotionally involved in peoples stories lol...
haha, you're a Pam Dependant :)
I never use Pam cause I don't like the way it tastes, "I can't believe its not butter" works too :)
haha, that is too funny! I feel worn out too after reading it! How did the cake turn out??
That was so intense!! Instead of Pam i use vegetable oil. You can buy your own "pressurized" refillable bottles so you can just keep refilling it with the veg oil. I love it because it's much cheaper and works just the same. But i do miss the smell of freshly sprayed Pam.
funny story!! i hate moments like that! ill bet i have them more often than you do! hope the cake came out nicely!
I love you Kat. You're hilarious! Actually, I think you're quite smart for googling how to grease a pan with out pam, I probably would have ended up going to the store again and buying it.
