the warrior princess

It's hard to believe that this woman was diagnosed with breast cancer yesterday.

We got to talk to this girl and tell her the news. She was worried, but she knows everything will be alright. (and oh my gosh, look at those eyes. she is so pretty)

My mom is a warrior. My entire life she's told me that she will fight all the way to the end. We have this saying in our family, "My mom wears combat boots." Travis even had a whole bunch of stickers with that saying printed for me!

This is NOT whatsoever, a pity party for me, or for my mother... but I want you to understand a little glimpse of what my mom has been through in her life.

When she was a pre-teen, she had cancer.

She has thyroid disorder.

Epilepsy.

Diabetes.

Brain tumor.

and now... Breast Cancer.

My paternal and maternal grandmas had breast cancer, and so did my aunt (mom's sister)... so this means I'm a prime candidate for breast cancer. Like mother like daughter, right? This picture says it all. We look SO alike!!

My mom kicked cancer's butt when she was younger and we have NO doubts that she will do it again. She's got a ton of support and people that love her. Watch out breast cancer... our family is comin your way to protect our mama.

Your mom is awesome! Tell her hi for me and that she is in our prayers! She must be one special lady for the Lord to have given her all these blessings in life to learn from. Hope you are all doing well!

Yep, it's true. I have worn combat boots, and let me tell ya, this cancer is gonna see the bottom of my combat boot soon! Hiiiiiyah! SMOOSH. P.S. My nails ARE chipped. :) That's just because I'm "diggin' in" and gonna give this bad boy a little Momma Shattuck whoopin'. :) Thanks for the well-wishes everyone. You can help me best by getting your mammograms. Ok, I'll take a couple prayers too, specifically for my family as they are supporting me and this will be hardest on them.

I know there's probably nothing I can say or do to help you or your mom, but please let me know if there is. I will gladly do it. Of course prayers will be offered for her and your family.
